Mario Masitti Studios | Denver Senior & Fashion Style Photographer

This industry is amazing. I love being a visual artist. I got to experience what some might call a little trip to the visual artist’s mechanic shop. We popped the hood, changed the fluids, and ‘refreshed’ my entire thinking on how I shoot. For the following shoot, I have spent a little while brainstorming concepts for this shoot. I researched locations, and outfits, and models, and assistants, and equipment, and inspiration to find SOMETHING that would let me excel as an artist and director for the day. With that being said… here are the results! 6.5 hours of shooting, 5 outfits/concepts, 3 locations. 2 assistants, and 1 awesome model. I hope you enjoy the diverse composition, expression, and lighting that this shoot featured. I’ve included a behind the scenes video so you can see how a few of the shots was compiled too. Kara is my final rep, and she’s at Ponderosa! We battled a couple of snow days, but we finally caught a glimpse of the 60* weather we’ve been having. I sincerely love Colorado for how diverse the weather is year round. It’s frustrating and fabulous all at the same time. Kara is a ROCKSTAR. We had such a blast at our shoot, and I laughed so hard for 3 hours straight. I hope you enjoy Kara’s images as much as I do!!

We found a Pink Panther in a box on top of a trash can… who would throw something like this away?! He was the perfect prop.

Every now and then, I get the chance to take on a free reign session where we get to try a bunch of new things… whether it be posing, camera equipment, or just simply playing around with new ideas. Ashley and Brooke needed some updated headshots along the way, and we were able to enjoy a FANTASTIC session (minus the normal Denver traffic of course). I have a ton more shots from their shoot and will get their full post up soon. Yay!

It’s SUCH a beautiful Friday outside! It’s hard to believe it’s already mid April… this year is just FLYING by! Claire was a Senior | Icon for me last year, and wanted some new photos for the upcoming summer! We had some rad outfits, and found some way cool props around the streets of Denver. Hope you enjoy and I can’t wait to post the rest of the shoot soon!

Oh how I -LOVE- Mondays!!!

This is Mackenzie! She is a rep for me at CHS. Her shoot was freaking awesome. She is a downright amazing person, and her family’s support is incredible. She brought her whole entourage for her shoot, and they were awesome! They helped take care of hair, and outfits, and EVERYTHING! Best support team I’ve ever seen.

We were extremely lucky and our shoot was sandwiched between two snow days. It snowed on Friday and Sunday, but was almost 50* on Saturday. We definitely lucked out.

This is Deanna. She is a senior rep at TRHS for me. Her bubbly personality was overwhelming. And so was her height. She towers at 5′11″, and her skin was unbelievably flawless. She’s an amazing actress and performer, and I am looking forward to seeing

It’s always a challenge shooting in January, because Colorado is just completely dead and usually snow filled. Creative compositions and lighting are a must in order to avoid the ‘January look’ of portraits around here, and we did an absolutely phenomenal job.

Deanna was SUCH a trooper. It was a pretty cold day, and extremely windy… but she held it together for all 3 hours. I hope you guys enjoy the shoot as much as I did, and I’m looking forward to an amazing year!!

For the past 12 months, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some outstanding businesses while I’ve grown my studio and portrait work.

I’m not the most articulate person around… but let’s just say I could write a book about how awesome Malorie is. She is probably the smartest person I’ve ever met, and her energy and enthusiasm for life is unmatched. I had the opportunity to photograph some updated headshots for her and couldn’t have asked for better outfits, better weather, and an overall better shoot! I hope you enjoy as much as I do. Cheers!

PS… her glasses totally snapped at the session… being as awesome as she is, we had a second pair on hand. Love it!

Michaela does hair. And she is awesome at it. Anyone who knows me and my obsession with hair will know why I appreciate Michaela. She also goes to CU, so needless to say I was lucky to squeeze an afternoon in for a shoot. We took advantage of a GORGEOUS 60*+ day in November which is just so rare considering this winter is supposed to be really harsh. One of the things I’ve been meaning to do is to really incorporate a bunch of different styles into one combined shoot – most of this being different lighting, but also posing, outfits, processing, and the overall ‘feel’ of what’s going on. So for you photographer geeks, you’ll notice I am using natural light, reflectors, and also Speedlites throughout the shoot to accomplish a certain mood. I hope you guys enjoy, and thanks Michaela for being an AWESOME model for the day!
